Amnesty is “working to protect human rights worldwide”. Excellent site with a lot of information.
British Helsinki Human Rights Group
Informative reports from elections in mainly Central and Eastern Europe.
Human Rights Watch
NGO who “investigate and expose human rights violations and hold abusers accountable”. Very informative.
Statewatch
They are “monitoring the state and civil liberties in the European Union”. Probably one of the best sites on the EU and civil liberties.
The EU Summit in Laeken, Belgium, decided in December 2001 to form the “Convention on the Future of Europe”. The main objective for this assembly was to draw up an EU Constitution or Constitutional Treaty, as both the symbol and basis of a cross-national EU-State. Here you will find information about about the Convention and the different actors involved in the process. European Convention
The official site of the European Convention, with the aim to keep you “fully up to date with the work and activities of the Convention”.
Forum website
The Convention´s debate site aiming to stimulate a virtual debate amongst members of civil society. Contributions will be available to all members of the Convention.
European Economic and Social Committee
Read about the EESC’s activities related to the Convention. One of them is to provide a bridge between civil society and the EU institutions. This is done through meetings between representatives of NGO´s and the Convention.
Debate on the Future of Europe
The EU´s official website for “the debate on the future of the European Union”, an initiative launched at the Nice Summit in December 2000. Links to basic documents and to several players in the debate.
EurActive’s section “Future EU”
News, dossiers, overviews and analysis about the Convention and other current EU-topics. A lot of useful information.
Democracy Forum
Group of members of the Convention, from both left and right, who are critical of the plans of an EU State Constitution.
Folketingets EU-oplysning
The Danish Parliament´s (Folketinget) information about the Convention. Very informative, only in Danish.

Centre for European Reform
London-based think tank which provides a lot to read on a wide range of subjects. Gives mostly a balanced view.
Demos
The role of this London-based think tank is “to help reinvigorate public policy and political thinking and to develop radical solutions to long term problems”. Wide range of subjects. Interesting material on democracy.
European Foundation
Present themselves as “the leading EU-critical think tank”. Publishes The European Journal, one of the best EU-critical journals.
Initiative and Referendum Institute, Europe
This institute, based in Amsterdam, is “building a broadly based competence center for direct democracy”. A must for anyone who thinks that the people should have a say on EU-issues as well as other issues.

Think tank focusing on the priorities and directions of EU’s development aid. Both a research and a NGO perspective.
The Centre for European Policy Studies
Brussels-based think tank which want to give “constructive solutions on Europe’s challenges”. Informative.
The European Policy Centre
Wants to be “an interface between government, business and civil society”. Informative and interesting, but look for the EU-critical perspective elsewhere.
The Federal Trust
This Britain-based think tank “explores federal solutions to issues of governance at national, continental and global level”. But they present both sides of the debate on the future of Europe.
