Feed your cow with dried bacterial mass from PL73 Escherichia coli (LM). Yummy!

Although 73% of citizens of EU member-states don’t approve genetically modified organisms produced artificially in laboratories and not by Nature, EU Commission bulldozes everything in its track to grab more space and funds for the Frankenstein industry.

The commission has repeatedly given its approval using this procedure, following the opinions of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). In August 2007, EFSA said that Bayer’s A25704-12 soybean was safe for import, awarding the product a “positive safety assessment.” This assessment looks partially like this:

“In conclusion, taking into account all of the data assessed, the GMO Panel considers that the information available for soybean A2704-12 addresses the scientific comments raised by the Member States and that the soybean A2704-12 is as safe as its non genetically modified counterpart with respect to potential effects on human and animal health or the environment. Therefore the GMO Panel concludes that soybean A2704-12 is unlikely to have any adverse effect on human and animal health or on the environment in the context of its intended uses.

Of course this soybean is merely a tiny part of the swelling industry. As you could detect from the title of the story - you can truly use dead bacterias to feed your cows (see the .pdf file, page 4):

“Considering its high nitrogen content, this dried killed bacterial biomass may serve as a direct or indirect source of protein for animals. Therefore, a use as feed material - a concentrated source of crude protein - for compound feeding stuffs formulated for pigs, salmonids and ruminants (inter alia dairy cows) is considered. The product will be sold in pellet form (minimization of dust production) and in ‘bulk’ to feed mills only.”

You can take for granted that enlightened and non-corrupt EU Commission will do its best to keep you well informed and even better informed.

If you have any strange feelings reading this it’s nothing uncommon. It’s the usual “sawing-the-branch-you’re-sitting-on” type of sensation.

Perhaps even worse would be if genetically engineered animals would be treated as drug-like food.
